Legal Drop In

The Legal Drop in centre at St Michael’s was set up in February 2014 by the St Michael’s DCC, in response to the cutting back of Legal Aid. The Legal Drop in is facilitated by a team of volunteers from the St Michael’s congregation and community each Wednesday, when volunteer legal professionals come into the church to offer legal advice to members of the public.

Since the service began over 2000 clients have been offered free legal advice. The drop in was originally established thanks to a partnership with a team of legal professionals from Osborne’s Solicitors LLP, a local firm who provided legal professionals for the first 18 months. Since then the pool of volunteers has widened. We now also work with the University of Law, students of which attend weekly to gain experience through registering clients and have the opportunity to observe when the lawyers speak to clients and give advice.

Clients appreciate “the help given by Lawyers” and “the warm and friendly welcome.” They like “the kind and understanding staff” and feel “it is a valuable service for the Community.”

Wednesdays 6.30-7.30pm at St Michael’s Church, Camden Town.
Registration from 6pm
