Mary’s Month of May in the Parish of Old St Pancras
Our Parish will be paying special attention to Mary during May. For hundreds of years during this month, the Church has honoured our Lady in devotion, procession and song. As flowers bloom around us in God’s creation we continue to celebrate the new life of this Easter Season, and are reminded of the one through whom that new life was born on earth. By honouring Mary this month, we invite the world to join with her ‘yes’ to God. We remember that in all walks of life Our Lady is with us and that by her example and intercession she leads us forward to our Heavenly Home, where with all the angels and saints we may one day sing:
Rejoice and be exceeding glad O Virgin Mary, Alleluia!
For the Lord is risen indeed, Alleluia!

May Appeal
Throughout May we will be praying particularly for families and young people. There will be retiring collections in all our churches after Sunday Mass in aid of the work of the Children’s Society. This is a national charity founded within the Church of England which runs local projects, helping children and young people when they are at their most vulnerable, and have nowhere left to turn.http://www.childrenssociety.org.uk/
Friday 17th-Sunday 19th June – Parish Pilgrimage to Walsingham
Please consider joining us on our Pilgrimage to Walsingham – England’s Nazareth. “the endless movement of the pilgrims round the shrine of Mary is…an evocative image of the restless, wandering human heart which cannot find repose until, tired of wandering, it finally comes to rest close to God who touched this earth in Mary.” Please take a leaflet and sign up soon!
Prayers and Articles
In our Mass sheets this month, we will include pieces reflecting on the Feasts of Mary, and her place in the hearts of Christians.
